The tested model of Holden Captiva was introduced in Australia during 2011. This ANCAP rating applies to all front-wheel-drive (2WD) Captiva variants (2016-2018). All-wheel-drive (AWD) variants are unrated.

The diesel right-hand-drive European model was tested by Euro NCAP. Holden provided information to ANCAP which showed that the results apply to all front-wheel-drive Captiva variants.

Dual front airbags, side airbags and head-protecting side curtains are standard equipment. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Intelligent seat belt reminders are fitted to the front seats. Pre-tensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash. Three-point seat belts are fitted to all seats.
